Features of the ESW series

High-speed switching function
Rapid (less than 10 ms) switchover to a backup when an OLT line card fails

High-speed switching (typically less than 5ms) using optical switches enables the provision of services with minimal user downtime.
The optical switch uses a highly reliable mechanical type, similar to those used in IX and other applications, ensuring reliable optical transmission even in the event of a malfunction.

Automatic/remote switching function
Automatic and remote switching functions reduce costs for urgent response

Based on line card failure information from OLTs and other sources, automatic switching to a backup line card is possible. Furthermore, since switching can be performed remotely by the operator for maintenance, installation work, and relocation of faults, it is possible to reduce on-site response costs.

Reduced spare machine costs
Expandable to a maximum of 64 units per spare unit, reducing spare unit costs

An N+1 redundant configuration can reduce redundancy costs compared to a 1:1 active/backup configuration.
Furthermore, assuming line cards where simultaneous failures are not necessarily frequent, the number of redundant lines can be expanded up to a maximum of 64 to minimize the need for spare line cards, thereby maximizing redundancy costs.

Supports high-density, space-saving OLT
(16+1) x 2/4 mode also supports 2/4 port type line cards

For 2/4-port line cards designed to increase rack space and lower the cost per port, redundancy for multi-port line cards is achieved by linking them with 16+1 optical switches. Based on sales experience linking up to 8 devices and up to 256 optical switches, we have also added support for multi-port line cards.
