Optical device manufacturing system
Connecting optical alignment implementation and inspection from development to mass production.
ficonTEC's highly scalable optical alignment, mounting, and inspection systems flexibly adapt to evolving optical device technologies, supporting new innovations and process development.
What is ficonTEC?

ficonTEC (ficonTEC Service GmbH) is a globally recognized provider of automated assembly and test systems for integrated optical devices and high-performance optoelectronic devices.
In recent years, the company's Industry 4.0 automation solutions have enabled new development and manufacturing approaches, playing a crucial role in the manufacturing of CoPackaged Optics (CPO) devices for AI data centers.
Industry 4.0: The digitalization of manufacturing (the Fourth Industrial Revolution) as proposed by Germany. It is an approach that connects people, equipment, and processes through networks and optimizes production through the use of data.
Three platforms to choose from, tailored to the development and production stages.
We offer three types: entry-level, standalone, and line-embedded.
When selecting equipment, the optimal choice depends not only on the intended use but also on the development and production plans envisioned for the short, medium, and long term. Below, we introduce the features of each platform according to the stage from R&D/PoC verification to small-scale and batch production, and finally to mass production.
Entry-level system
For R&D/PoC
It reproduces measurement accuracy, alignment accuracy, and test quality close to that of mass-produced machines, to the greatest extent possible. Ideal for research and development and prototype verification.
Standalone system
Multi-function/process integration
It can integrate multiple processes and handle complex assembly/testing requirements. It's a flexible system that can cover a wide range of applications, from research and development to small-scale and batch production.
Systems for mass production
Expandable modular configuration
The modular design allows for the addition and modification of functions according to the application. It is designed to handle everything from prototyping for new product launches to small-scale mass production, mass production processes using cassette transport, and full-scale inline mass production.
manufacturing line
These function-specific machines are designed to achieve top-class flexibility, speed, and results in the manufacturing of photonic devices for assembly processes.
Standard Assembly Line
From research and development to mass production, we offer fully automated and semi-automated high-precision assembly solutions for optical element integration.
Custom assembly line
Integrating high-precision optical alignment with diverse bonding technologies, this is a versatile, high-performance custom line capable of handling everything from development and evaluation to small-batch production.
Stack line
A fully automated solution for semiconductor laser diode bars. It automates the entire process, from pre-treatment optimized for coating to unstacking and optical inspection of facets, with high reliability and reproducibility.
For testing processes
Dye test line
This system enables fully automated and semi-automated electro-optical testing at the die level of optical devices. Its integrated optical-electrical mixed-signal architecture, combining DC, RF, and optical measurements, and flexible modular layout allow for optimization to meet customer test requirements.
Wafer test line
This next-generation test platform provides a fully automated, one-stop solution for DC, RF, and optical measurements of PICs (photonic integrated circuits) and various optical devices before dicing.
For joining process
Laser welding
Supporting 2-beam/3-beam vertical configurations with fiber-coupled Nd:YAG lasers, this system achieves high-precision and highly repeatable laser welding. Equipped with automatic alignment, testing & characterization, and component tracking, it smartly automates the welding process.
